About me

Welcome! My name is Ramona McCloskey and I'm an artist, archaeologist and writer. Living with my family close to the north coast of Co. Antrim, I am drawing inspiration from our beautiful Irish landscape that is steeped in history, as well as my spirituality and professional interests I have as an archaeologist. You can find more about my writing on my Substack.

I hold a master's degree in Prehistoric Archaeology (concentrating on Indo-European homeland and historical linguistics) and my background plays a big role in the thought process behind my jewellery. Whether it is a Celtic mythology inspired piece, a standing stone or a sunwheel inspired by ancient rock carvings, all my jewellery is created after hours of research. I treat everything I make as more than just a sum of silversmithing techniques and methods - my motivation is to take a little piece of history and folklore, give it a new life through art, and share its unique story with the world.

My journey in jewellery making started back in 2012. Every piece of jewellery you can see in my store and gallery has been handmade from scratch by me. I ship your orders with a little help from my husband and I do my best to minimise the impact I have on the environment by reusing packing materials, as well as making sure that I am using recycled silver and gemstones from reliable sources.

I am a member of the Guild of Jewellery Designers and I am registered for hallmarking with the London Assay Office - my Maker's Mark is RMcC, which stands for Ramona McCloskey.
